Marie-Lise Schüpbach was born in Zurich, where she studied oboe at the conservatory with Marcel Saillet and André Raoul. She went on to study with Heinz Holliger in Freiburg im Breisgau, where she graduated with honor. Her orchestral career began with the Cologne Rundfunk-Sinfonie-Orchester. In 1979, she took the position of solo English horn at the BR Symphonieorchester in Munich. She has performed as a guest with the Philharmonic Orchestras of Berlin and Vienna and is a member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. In 2008, together with colleagues of the BR-Symphony Orchestras, she founded the chamber music festival „erstKlassik am Sarnersee“, where renowned musicians join together for exquisit concerts.
